#perksofabella ACE Water Spa Buy 1 Take 1 Belle de Jour Coupon Experience

It is not a secret that that this is my favorite coupon from the BDJ Planner that I get every year. So it wouldn’t be a surprise if this is the first one  that I will be using.

20160124_054137

The last few weeks felt like a blur. The first two weeks proved to be challenge coming from sickness, trying to recuperate from the holidays, trying to smoosh my social and family life to my busy work schedule then trying to take care of my sick mom while trying to recover from the 2-4 hour a day sleep I had in a long time is very draining.

So last weekend, my mom and I went to ACE Water Spa for a much needed rest and relaxation. I just gave my coupon, paid Php550.00 then we were given our keys. Pardon for the fuzzy pictures as I was just using my cellphone camera.
20160124_074303

We then proceeded to shower and change into our rash guards and cycling shorts. For those who would like to ask why we wore rashguards, it is because of the varying pressures of the water. Sometimes the pressure gets so high it ends up displacing what you are wearing, even undies. So it is recommended to wear rash guards than a swimsuit. No worries I;m sure you’ll have fun!

When we went there a glass panel from the viewing area got broken so I’ll just share the pic c/o their website:
ACE Water Spa

ACE Water Spa is a place for people of all ages, may they be kids or adults.  If you’re a swimmer and would just like to have a few laps, the pools are often not in use because most would just be there for the massage! ^-^

Why is this place called a Water Spa and why is it called a Hydro Massage?

This is a kind of massage that utilizes “Ultrasonic Jet System” this massages specific areas of the body with its aquatic jets strategically located to relax and soothe tired and aching muscles. This treatment is best done in heated water. So when you’re there you’ll realize that the pool is indeed heated.

Their massages are categorized as soft, moderate and hard massages. Because of these, the customers are assured of the same consistent experience. This also personalizes your massage because it gives the customer the freedom to decide which water equipment to use and which part of his body needs more attention. You can even opt to stay in one place even for an hour, though it is not recommended because it might lead to muscle pain and fatigue.

Kids would even have their own area to play on with slides, a basketball hoop, a lazy river and a fun area where you pull a string and a bucket or water would fall on you. Believe me, I am not a kid but I enjoyed the bucket splash immensely. I often use this after enjoying the hot herbal pools.

Speaking of the Hot Herbal Pools, they have four but only three are marked. They are:
Mint Pool
Has the temperature of 36 C.
Jasmine Pool
This pool is marked at 38 C. will surely make you invigorated while relaxing your muscles.
Lavender Pool
is the hottest pool with 40 C as its temperature, while the lavender scent keeps the skin soft and smooth.

Tips in using the Hot Herbal Pools:

  • I usually go there in that order because if you don’t you’ll feel like it’s too hot. You would want your body to adapt to the heat first before going to a hotter pool.
  • The suggested use per Hot Herbal Pool is about 2-5 minutes. I would suggest leaning into the steel pillows around the pool as they are cold and so your blood pressure wouldn’t rise.
  • This is best for people with chronic muscular pain, or stiffness on their muscles as it relaxes your muscles.
  • You can use the cold pool after using a hot herbal pool and dipping into another pool.
Immersion on hot herbal pool will open up pores to allow the release of body toxins while stimulating blood flow to the core of the body while tightening the pores. Alternate immersion is recommended to keep your body temperature and heart rate at a healthy level. If it is too cold for you, you will find a shower nearby.
  • Still feeling hot? Keep cool by drinking some water. There’s always a water station near the Hot Herbal Pool.

Doesn’t it sound relaxing? So go ahead and use your ACE Water Spa Buy 1 Take 1 Coupon!

Belle De Jour Fair 2014 “Live It Up” and the BDJ 2015 Journal launch!

Hi Everyone! I’m back! Sorry for the long post intervals. I’ve undergone some heartbreaks and my wallet broke too! Oh if my wallet could only speak!

So lets get the ball rolling! As everyone knows Belle De Jour (BDJ) holds a fair every October for the past few years. It is also when they launch the coming year’s journals. Here are some of the reasons why you should consider going to the next one next year:

  • The team will be releasing the coming year’s journals and you get a big discount! 20% off!
  • Lots of talks to attend and learn from.
  • A ton of things to do like games and activities (wall climbing, zipline, scavenger hunt)
  • You’ll get to try various products and services from the sponsors’ booths, and they offer discounts!
  • Freebies and lootbags for attendees!
This is the registration booth. The men are trying the zipline up to make sure it would be safe.

The Live It Up Photobooth is the first thing you’ll see. Great place to take your pics with your fellow Bellas.

This year is one of the best ones I’ve attended. As I’ve attended 5 of their fairs I have learned to arrive before 10am or the start. That way I get to enjoy the booths without falling in line that much, participate more and receive more freebies since some sponsors will have cut-offs.

In order for me to maximize my experience I checked on the sponsors and the booth layout that can be found in the BDJ FB Page. There I was able to see the special things they’ve got to offer like, Stationary sets from the Lenovo Booth, Free Nailart and Haircolor application from the Revlon booth and Hairstyling from both Status Salon and Davines. If you want the day to be a success you MUST have a gameplan! Hahaha and as you’ve guessed, yes I tried everything!

The finished product. The Goody booth can be seen behind me. That’s where I got my Goody bag(literally). They offer discounted hairstyling aids too!

Leah Salvatierra of the BDJ Team can be seen manning the booth for their different planners and Elite Box. But since I got my planner for free I don’t need to buy one. Also I was told that I can pay for my Elite Box here so I was really surprised when it was given to me on the spot! Yey no need to wait for my package! Woot! The Unboxing will be shown on the next blog entry.

Yes I know forgot to take pics for the Lenovo and Revlon booths. That’s because I enjoyed it too much there. The Lenovo booth was my first stop of the day and I was able to get the stationary set below. And I was like huwaaaat? Mongol now sells ballpens?! Now that’s something!

I have waited for the 2015 BDJ Planner from April. Because that was when I have found out that I won one from the BDJ Survey. So that was a 6 month wait to October but it was worth it. I love their new layout, it is more insteresting, less, bulky and the vouchers are all in one place called “The Perks of a Bella”.

But wait, there’s more! I didn’t just get my 2015 BDJ Planner for FREE but there was also another surprise waiting for me! Once I have opened my “Perks of a Bella” Look what I found!!! That’s me and our team for last year’s fair where we won 1st place for the Scavenger Hunt! This event is really special and this definitely made my day.

Some of the Bellas I’ve met in the previous ones were there too! And we missed some of our friends that were not there. Oh well until the next one right girls?

Joining the BDJ Community for the last few years had been one of my best decisions. Some think of it as “kaartehan” ,”gastos lang” or a waste of time. But attending talks, activities and fairs made me more sociable, made me open to try new things and learn more from the talks and BDJ Soirees. So thank you BDJ Team for holding another successful event. Until next time!

BDJ BOX AND SHU UEMURA’S “ART OF BEAUTY” BEAUTY SOIREE: The Art of Dramatic Eyes

After playing around with Shu Uemura makeup and accessories, we had to freshen-up then go back to Shu Uemura since there’s still another workshop! The Art of Dramatic eyes by Ms. Claire Diokno.

Shu Uemura's Ms. Dyan Warren-Geiger Brand Manager introduced Ms.Claire Diokno who is the Senior Make up associate of Shu Uemura Philippines. She'll be giving us 3 looks!
Shu Uemura’s Ms. Dyan Warren-Geiger Brand Manager introduced Ms.Claire Diokno who is the Senior Make up associate of Shu Uemura Philippines. She’ll be giving us 3 looks!

While this was all happening I can’t help but notice the arrival of BDJ’s Beauty Ministers. They’re pretty! And since Claire is also a fan she said hi to them.

Even if she’s seven months along we can’t help but admire Ms.Claires happy personality which makes her very likable.

Ms. Claire and our model again.
Ms. Claire and our model for the second time who is also a hair and makeup expert.

Claire gave us a great tip. Don’t you have it when you put on your eyeshadow and when you’re done the pigments are all there under your eyes and on your cheeks? You can prevent this by setting up a trap. This trap can be done by using loose powder, you just have to sponge a thick layer under your eyes on on your cheeks.

For this look we will be using Shu Uemura’s Drawing Pencil Liner. It has a wide variety or colors and textures. It is also long-lasting and smudge-proof so you can wear it throughout the day and not worry that you would look like a panda.

Shu Uemura Drawing Pencil Liner
Shu Uemura’s Drawing Pencil Liner in sooo many colors.

For the first look it is a classic look that can be worn everyday like in the office going out with the family or even weddings! We will be using the White and Silver Drawing Pencils and the Pret-a Palette. The great thing about this brand is their make-up is so light that you can put a layer on top of the other without the fear of making it crack from thickness.

Claire then put the Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler in action. This is the brand's best selling product. It has a slot in its rubber that traps the hair in while you squeeze it, thus creating a more defined curl.

She then thought us how to put on falsies or false eye lashes. I myself have a pair but it is unused since I have this fear or poking my eye and messing it up. Some pointers will be:

  • Measure it to your eye and cut off the excess strands.
  • Cut them together to get an even pair.
  • Use good glue so the falsies wont fall after some amount of activity.
  • Put it from the outside of your eyelid in.
  • Just put the right amount of glue.

The first look is now complete.
The first look is now complete.

The first look is great and very simple. The long lashes gives an element of sexiness to it, and the white eyeshadow can only be seen whenever the model closes her eyelids.

On to the next look! As I’ve said earlier Shu Uemura’s makeup can be layered without the feeling of heaviness to the user and without the fear of it cracking. So for the next two looks we will just be adding more!

The second look was an inspiration from the 60s. So for this look Claire just added more brown eyeshadow on the lid near the occular cavity and silver for the middle lids. Felt tipped Shu Uemura eyeliner was also used. Like what Ms. Claire had said the tip of this eye liner is like a Chinese pencil it allows you to draw thin to thick lines, its intense black ensures great impact to your creations, and its long-lastingness will guarantee an unforgettable impression.

Claire then proceeded to teach us the Shu Uemura way of making Smoky Eyes. Which was moistening the eyeshadow brush, then adding color using the Pret-a Palette, then making a small cicle in the middle of the eye and blending both ends together.

Smoky Eyes the done the Shu Uemura way!

After everything is done the “traps” that were set earlier were just brushed off, then contour was added to highlight her cheekbones. So here’s the final look! The model looks ready to party!

After the three looks Ms. Claire worked on four lucky bellas. She also thought us the following:

  • Choose between the eyes or the lips. If your eye makeup is strong don’t pair it with a dark lipstick. And if you have dark lipstick, go easy on your eye makeup.
  • Simplicity is beauty. If you don’t need too  much of it then don’t

If you’ve read my review for Benefit’s Mascara, you will remember this lady. She’s a wonderful make-up artist and honestly I’m really waiting for her to create her blog as she knows many tips, tricks and makeup substitutes. I also like how she doesn’t procrastinate.

During the workshop Ms.Claire kept on describing how the Drawing Pencil Liners were very hard to remove, how you can use it for swimming and not mind if it will later come off or worse blot all over your eyes. So It made me curious… and I tried applying it on my skin.

The Shu Uemura Drawing Pencil Liners.
The Shu Uemura Drawing Pencil Liners.

And here is how Shu Uemura describes the Product:

  • creamy soft texture allows gentle & smooth application.
  • long-lasting and smudge-proof, keep your look fresh through the day.
  • wide range of shades and textures to create any eye look. beautiful balance 10 dark defining colors and 11 bright shades from all hues.
Here are the Shu Uemura Drawing Pencil Liners I got to try.
Here are the Shu Uemura Drawing Pencil Liners I got to try.

I applied it on the back of my hand and after a few minutes I tried removing it with my thumb. IT WONT COME OFF! Hahahah. I had to walk from Shang-ri La Plaza to Megamall and my hand got rubbed and rained on. It is still there! Before going home I noticed my umbrella went missing and I got rained on again. Then I tried rubbing it off, still the same results.

So when I got off I washed my face with Etude’s Foam Cleanser the took a shower. The Silver one is almost gone but the rest are still there though they are not as bright as before.

My Verdict: Considering that this is for the eyes which are not meant to be rubbed, rained at and washed off twice, these pencils are what was described and is truly what Shu Uemura says to be. A great product! I would recommend it!

Thank you BDJ Box and Shu Uemura and Edleen for an afternoon of learning and fun! Unfortunately the next event will be held on my birthday week so I’m not sure if I can attend. But till the next one! For now I’ll be waiting for the delayed July BDJ Box!

BDJ BOX AND SHU UEMURA’S “ART OF BEAUTY” BEAUTY SOIREE: The Art of Contouring

Hello there! A little over a week ago I posted the event notice to BDJ Box’s and Shu Uemura’s Beauty Soiree entitled “Art of Beauty”. This was held on Shu Uemura in Shangri La Plaza last Saturday, July 26,2014. As posted the bellas have two things that we may learn, the Art of Contouring or Dramatic Eye Makeup Application. And being the adventurous cat that I am I would like to attend both! Hahaha. So I was so glad to get Edleen’s reply and was bouncing for joy when she told me that I COULD ATTEND BOTH! WOOOT! After sending back my confirmation, she replied with the names and numbers of my friends who would like to join the Art of Contouring and I instantly thought of 4 bellas all of whom attended both events! ^-^ Anyway I arrived 20 minutes before the 1PM call time for the first workshop that would start by 1:30 PM but that’s fine with me since it gives me enough time to catch my breath, chose the best seats to take my pictures on and take pictures! So here’s the place before the event. There’s just many colors everywhere I look which in turn makes me feel happy!

Joyce then used Shu Uemura’s Depsea which is actually a moisturizer sourced originally from volcanic hot springs 2,000m below the sea surface to offer the ultimate purity. It not only cleanses the skin but also moisturizes it while getting it ready for makeup.

With the contouring a brown eyeshadow was used.

  • You can use eyeshadow too provided that it is matte. You wouldn’t want to have glitters all over your contours right?
  • You can also use othe rmakeup like liquid or powder foundation provided that it is 2-3 shades darker. My friend recommends Max Factor’s Creme Puff for this.

Afterwards we played around! By play I meant tried on the many products Shu Uemura has to offer. I myself tried the UV Under Base and it was the first time for me to use a mousse type primer. It was really nice, easy to use and a small amount really goes a long way.

When we were seated we were given free reign over the buffet table, and were served snacks of spaghetti, breaded chicken, garlic bread and a choice of lemonade or iced tea.
